Browse on Reports

You use this program to add, import and maintain reports and extracts.

New reports can also be added using the Report Wizard program and then maintained using the Browse on Reports and Create Report programs.

Toolbar and menu

Field Description
File  
Import Report From Select this to import reports. Once imported, a report can be customized as required.
Report Library Select this to import a report from the standard SYSPRO report library.
Text File Select this to use the Create Report program to import a report definition from another SYSPRO system.
Options  
History Configuration Select this to define your preferences for maintaining the history of processed reports.
Include  
Include Select this indicate the reports you want to display in the listview.

Import from Report Library

This screen is displayed when you select the Import Report From > Report Library option from the File menu.

Reports from the standard library are provided as templates only. These reports are similar to the real SYSPRO reports, but may contain reduced or additional functionality and may not always take account of setup options.

Field Description
OK Select this to continue.
Import from Report Library  
Standard report Indicate the code of the standard report you want to import.

You can select the Browse icon to use the RW Browse on Standard Report Library program to display a list of reports from the standard SYSPRO library that can be imported into the Report Writer module.

Verify Report Select this to use the Create Report program to import and customize the report.
Cancel Select this to return to the listview.

Report History Configuration

This screen is displayed when you select the History Configuration option from the Options menu:

Configuration options  
Retain history of recent reports Select this to retain history of recently processed reports.
Number of reports to retain Enter the number of reports to retain. The maximum is 9.
Save Preferences Select this to save the information you entered.
Close Select this to return to the previous screen without saving any information you entered.

Include

This screen is displayed when you select the Include option from the Include menu:

Include  
Only show reports create by me Select this to display only those reports you created.
Include reports last run  
Anytime Select this to display reports irrespective of when they were last run.
Earlier than

Select this to display on those reports run before a particular date.

If you select this option, then you need to enter the applicable date in the date field for this option.

OK

Select this to save the options you selected and to return to the previous screen.

The options you select are only saved for the current run of the program.

Cancel Select this to return to the previous screen without saving any options you selected.

Listview columns

Column Description
Report This indicates the report code.
Description This indicates the description of the report.
Primary table This indicates the primary table used to generate the report.
Table description This indicates the name of the primary table used to generate the report.
Last printed This indicates the date on which the report was last generated.
Printed by This indicates the code of the operator who last generated the report.
Creator This indicates the code of the operator who created the report.

Notes and warnings

Prerequisites

  • Before you can add reports, you need to use the Data Dictionary Import program to import the data dictionary into the Report Writer module. Refer to Report Writer Introduction for additional information about the Report Writer module.

Import a report from the report library

This function allows you to copy the templates for the standard SYSPRO reports and then to customize them as required.

  1. From the listview pane of the Browse on Reports program, select the Import report from option from the File menu.

  2. Select the option: Report library to import a standard report from the SYSPRO report library.

    The RW Browse on Standard Report Library program displays the available reports.

  3. Enter the name of the standard SYSPRO report you want to import.

    Alternatively, you can use the Browse function to view a list of the standard SYSPRO reports which are currently available for importing into the Report Writer module.

  4. Select the Verify Report function.

  5. Optionally enter a new report code and description.

  6. Select the Import and Edit Report function.

    The Create Report program is loaded enabling you to edit the report as required.

  7. Select the Save option from the File menu to save the report you imported.

    Select the Exit option from the File menu to return to the Reports listview.

    Alternatively, you can select the Save and exit option from the File menu to save the file you imported and to automatically return to the Reports listview.

Import a report from a text file

  1. From the listview pane of the Browse on Reports program, select the Import report from option from the File menu.

  2. Select the option: Text file to import a report definition from another SYSPRO system.

  3. Enter the name of the file you want to import, including the full path.

  4. Select the Verify Import File function.

  5. Optionally enter a new report code and description.

  6. Select the Import and Edit Report function.

    The Create Report program is loaded enabling you to edit the report as required.

  7. Select the Save option from the File menu to save the report you imported.

    Select the Exit option from the File menu to return to the Reports listview.

    Alternatively, you can select the Save and exit option from the File menu to save the file you imported and to automatically return to the Reports listview.
