Asset Group Maintenance

You use this program to define and maintain asset groups which you can use to categorize your assets.

Asset groups are used for subtotalling within a number of Assets Register reports and can also be used as a selection criterion when printing reports.

A group must be defined against each asset (Assets).

Asset Group Details

Field Description
Asset group Indicate the asset group code to maintain.
Asset group This indicates the asset group code being maintained.
Asset group information  
Description Enter a descriptions for the group code.
Book value depreciation code

Indicate the book value depreciation code to display as the default entry when you add an asset using the Assets program.

Depreciation codes are maintained using the Asset Depreciation Codes program.

Tax depreciation code

Indicate the wear and tear depreciation code to display as the default entry when you add an asset using the Assets program.

Minimum book value

Indicate the minimum value to which the group of assets may depreciate.

If a Residual value is defined against an asset's depreciation book (Assets - Book Value Details) and that residual value is greater than the value entered here, then the asset is depreciated up to the residual value and not the minimum value entered here.

Minimum tax value

Indicate the minimum value to which each group of assets may depreciate for tax value purposes.

If a Residual value is defined against an asset's tax book (Assets - Tax Details) and that residual value is greater than the value entered here, then the tax value for the asset is depreciated up to the residual value and not the minimum value entered here.

Minimum alternate values  
Alt valuation 1 - 10

Indicate the minimum value to which each group of assets may depreciate for alternate valuation purposes.

If a Residual value is defined against an asset's alternate valuation books (Assets - Alt Valuation 1-10) and that residual value is greater than the value entered here, then the alternate value for the asset is depreciated up to the residual value and not the minimum value entered here.

Inserting Application Help

You would typically follow this procedure to display help for the current program in a customized pane that can be pinned to the program window.

Information includes step-by-step instructions for the various functions available within the program, including a brief overview of what the program does, what setup options are required and how to personalize the program.

  1. Open the program for which you want to insert application help into a customized pane.

    This functionality is only available for a program that has panes.

  2. Right-click any form field.

    You can also click the triangle menu icon that appears in the title area of a pane.

  3. Select Insert Application Help from the context-sensitive menu.

    The application help appears in a pane within your program. You can reposition the pane using the docking stickers or pin it to the program window.

Removing the Application Help pane

If you no longer want to display application help in a pane for your current program, you can simply remove it.

  1. Select the Close icon in the right-hand corner of the application help pane.

  2. Confirm that you want to delete the pane.
