Web-Based Product Configurator

You use this program to configure your own product online using a streamlined interface that is easy to navigate when making your product, component and operation selections.

This allows you to customize your own products that are manufactured-to-order, assembled-to-order, and engineered-to-order or sold in many configurations.

It is typically used by customers who are not regular SYSPRO users, so the product creation process is more efficient and less prone to errors as the customer is making the product selections.

Before using the Web-Based Product Configurator:

  • Ensure that the relevant setup options are defined

  • Ensure that the configuration structure for the product has been defined in the Product Configuration Maintenance program

  • Ensure that the website login details have been provided by the supplier

Log in using your SYSPRO credentials, or the details provided to you by your supplier.

Select Product to Configure

On this screen, you choose the product you want to configure and indicate the quantity required. You can choose the product from the list displayed, or search for it.

These product configurations have been assigned to you from the Product Configurator Maintenance program.

Configure Product

Once the product details are entered, the system displays the selection criteria defined for the configuration.

Selection criteria are used to adapt a particular configuration to a customer's requirements.

A selection refers to a group of similar criteria, for example color, while the criteria refer to the choices within a selection, for example red, blue and green.

You need to make your selections on these screens.

[Note]
  • Multimedia is only displayed if a multimedia object was added to the configuration in the Configuration Maintenance program.

  • You can return to a previous selection by using the arrows on the right-hand corner.

  • The Skip button is available for optional selection criteria. The button is hidden if the criteria is mandatory.

Parent Creation

The configuration details you selected are used to create a stocked or non-stocked parent.

On this screen you can view or change the parent part details, such as the stock code, description and warehouse. The changes which can be made depend on the Configuration Maintenance options you selected.

Select Create to accept your entries and move to the component and operation selections.

Components and Operations Selection

Depending on the product definition, you must update the components/operation quantities to be included in the configured product.

Select Update to confirm the selections.

[Note]
  • A pencil appears against a line to indicate that the line can be maintained. Select the pencil to make changes to the line.

Finish

Once you have made all your choices on the previous screens, you can view the values for the configured product or you can view/change the parent details.

Select Create Quote to add all your selections onto a quotation.

Quote

You can view the quotation details and choose to print it out. The quotation can then be sent to the supplier, from where the product can be manufactured based on your selections.

Guest user considerations

  • If a user is not linked to a specific customer, you can define an operator as a guest/anonymous user on the E.net tab in the Operators program.

You need to enable the Inventory Product Configurator and Quotations Primary Query functional areas for this operator when assigning e.net licenses.

When logging in as a guest user, you will add the customer details on the Finish screen.

  • You can login automatically to the web-based product configurator by adding parameters to the end of the URL used to navigate to it. For example:

http://localhost/SYSPROProductConfigurator/Account/Login.aspx?user=SPCGUEST&Guest=True&comp=0&password=pass, where guest = true if using the guest account and comp is the company to log into.
