SYSPRO Ribbon bar > Administration > Application Builder Role View

Application Builder Role View

You use this program to design one application builder screen that will be displayed in the Role View docking pane on the main menu, for a specified role.

The Design Role View option on the Application Builder menu works in a similar way to the Design System-wide View option, except that this is a single application that is common to all members of the selected role.

This program can be accessed from the Application Builder, while in Design Mode.

Summary implementation and usage

  1. Open Design Mode.

    • You enter the Design Mode by selecting the Design UI Layouts option on the Administration tab of the SYSPRO Ribbon Bar.

    • Enable the Role option and select the Role required from the dropdown list.

    • Select the Start Design Mode button.

When this is done the Design Mode in Progress screen opens.

  2. Open the Design Role View.

    • From the Application Builder dropdown list, select the Design Role View menu option.

This calls up a blank Application Builder screen with the title Application Role View.

    • The Application Role View is the same as any other blank application builder screen except that it does not have the Options button on the toolbar.

This means that you cannot change the applications title, and you cannot set VBScript code against an OnClose event.

  3. Design the Role View application as you require.

    • Select to add a customized pane(s) using the Customized Pane Editor program.

    • Alternatively import an existing customized pane(s).

  4. Complete the process.

    • Close the Application Role View screen.

    • Use the Exit Design Mode button on the Design Mode in Progress screen.

    • If you need to modify this application you will need to go back into design mode first.

  5. View your new Role View application.

    • The Role View application will appear by default for existing and new operators that are members of this role.

If the Auto Hide option is used so that the Role View application is no longer on the desktop, it will minimize to a tab like any other screen.

    • If the Role View application is closed by the operator, it can be re-opened using the Show Role View menu item on the Role View dropdown on the Home tab of the SYSPRO Ribbon bar.

    • To ensure that the Role View docking pane opens automatically when an operator logs in, enable the Show role view when logging in option in the System-wide Personalization program.

Notes and warnings

Existing customized panes

  • If an operator associated with a role logs into SYSPRO, and a Dock_IMPDHZLZ.XML exists in the Base\settings\Role_xxx (the current role) folder, then the panes defined in this docking layout will be loaded into the Role View pane.

  • You can display both a system-wide and a role view docking pane at the same time.
