Admin Text Viewer/Editor

You use this program to view, edit, copy, delete and rename files and folders you displayed using the Browse on Files and Folders program.

Viewing

This text viewer is displayed when you select the View as Text option from the Browse on Files and Folders program.

For many file types (e.g. executables, images, etc), viewing a file as text has no real meaning as these files contain special (non-text) characters.

Editing

This text editor is displayed when you select the Edit option from the Browse on Files and Folders program.

Thew file you are editing may reside on the server or client machine, depending on the folder you browsed when selecting the Edit option from the Browse on Files and Folders program.

The text editor assumes that the file conforms to the normal rules for the platform being edited. On Windows for example, each line of text must be prefixed with a CR LF pair (carriage return, line feed). On a UNIX server, each line must be prefixed with a LF character pair.

The following file extensions are recognized as text file formats and can be edited:

  • txt
  • ini
  • bat
  • sql
  • htm
  • xml
  • xsd
  • xsl
  • css

  • mai
  • mas
  • mat
  • mam
  • cpb
  • cpy
