Configurations | Indicate the configuration(s) in which the component must be replaced. |
Engineers |
Indicate configurations in which the component must be replaced according to the engineer(s) responsible for the configuration. The components for a configuration are replaced in those configurations where the configuration engineer matches the engineer(s) you select at this option. |
Options | |
Non-stocked |
Select this to replace a non-stocked component with another non-stocked component. If you do not select this option, then the system assumes you are replacing a stocked component with a stocked component. |
Component to replace |
Enter the component that currently exists in the configuration(s). This is the component you want to replace. A stock item defined as a Notional part cannot be used. |
Replacement component |
Enter the component that will replace the existing component in the selected configurations. A stock item defined as a Notional part cannot be a replacement component. |
Apply new description |
Select this to enter a new description for the replacement component. |
New description |
Enter the new description for the replacement component. |
Replace component if already exists |
This enables you to indicate whether or not a component must be replaced if the replacement component already exists against a specific option in the configuration. If you select this option, then the component to replace is replaced, regardless of whether or not the replacement component already exists against the option. If you do not select this option and the replacement component already exists against a configuration option, then the component to replace is not replaced. For example: You have a configuration option that has components A, B and C. You want to replace all components A with component B. If you select this option, then the system replaces component A with component B. The resulting configuration option now has components B, B and C. If you do not select this option, then component A is not replaced with component B because component B already exists in the configuration option. The resulting configuration option remains with components A, B and C. |
