Program: License Plate Numbers Browse
This program lets you browse and select License Plate Number(s) (LPNs) across bins and warehouses as a reusable, review-type browse that can be launched standalone or from other programs.
Exploring
Things you can do in this program include:
-
View and filter LPNs by warehouse/bin/stock code/container type/LPN and status-related criteria.
-
Select an LPN and return it to the calling program/field using standard browse behaviour.
-
Prioritize results by closest quantity when the calling program passes a required quantity, so that the most suitable LPN appear first.
-
Run the browse standalone to review LPN availability and status across locations (subject to your selection criteria)
An LPN refer to an unique identifier assigned to a container that holds stock (e.g., pallet, carton, bin) for tracking through receiving, storage, movement, allocation/picking, dispatch, and counting.
An LPN may hold a single or multiple stock codes/lots depending on the setup options, Multiple stock codes per LPN, Multiple lots per LPN). Core metadata includes warehouse, bin, container, created date/by, and statuses (On Hold, Archived, Awaiting Put-away, In Transit, In Stock Take)
Starting
The following configuration options in Syspro may affect processing within this program or feature, including whether certain fields and options are accessible.
The Setup Options program lets you configure how Syspro behaves across all modules. These settings can affect processing within this program.
Setup Options > Preferences > Distribution > Inventory
-
Multiple bins
This requires entry of bins upon the receipt, issue or transfer of items and when capturing stock take information. The Purge and Archive program runs to ensure the default bin is inserted into existing lot records and their associated transactions against your traceable or ECC-controlled items. Run the Balance function of the Order Purge and Inventory Period End programs to ensure there are no quantities in ship without bin allocations and to transfer any qty on hand to the default bin.
-
Fixed bins
Only available in a SQL environment and if multiple bins is in use. Initially, all warehouses using multiple bins are flagged as fixed bin warehouses. The Show Warehouses hyperlink lets you switch off this facility selectively for warehouses. Fixed bins requires a bin to exist in the WhmBin table before you can transact against it. If the Create bins at inventory transaction option is switched on, bins can only be created at transaction time for warehouses not using fixed bins.
The Show Warehouses hyperlink is also used to maintain the WMS control options against the warehouse (Warehouse Maintenance).
-
Use license plate numbers
This indicates that WMS License Plate Numbering is required. When enabled, existing stock items in bins are placed in LPNs.
When this setup option is enabled, stock must be received into a warehouse and the Associate serials by bin setup option must be enabled. Run the License Plate Number Conversion or Stock Take LPN Conversion program to ensure all stock items that are currently in bins are placed into LPNs. Transactions can't be posted if the conversion wasn't done.
This setup option can't be disabled after the conversion was done or a license plate number was created.
-
:
-
Multiple stock codes per LPN
This indicates whether multiple stock codes can be allocated to one license plate number.
This setup option can't be disabled if multiple stock codes have been placed in an LPN.
-
Multiple lots per LPN
This indicates whether multiple lots can be allocated to one license plate number.
This setup option can't be disabled if multiple stock codes have been placed in an LPN.
-
Perform full LPN stock count
This indicates whether a stock count at license plate number level is required.
-
-
The availability of selection criteria and the ability to change fields (for example, warehouse/bin) depends on the calling program and its validation rules.
-
LPNs in restricted statuses (for example, In Stock Take or In Transit) may be excluded or blocked from selection depending on how the browse is invoked.
Solving
The calling program may lock these fields to ensure the LPN selection remains valid for the transaction content.
When performance LPN maintenance (using the LPN Maintenance) for an LPN that already contains stock, warehouse and bin changes are disabled because the LPN must be moved using the appropriate inventory movement transactions (using Inventory Movements) to preserve traceability
Using
-
Columns in a listview are sometimes hidden by default. You can reinstate them using the Field Chooser option from the context-sensitive menu (displayed by right-clicking a header column header in the listview). Select and drag the required column to a position in the listview header.
-
Fields on a pane are sometimes removed by default. You can reinstate them using the Field Selector option from the context-sensitive menu (displayed by right-clicking any field in the pane). Select and drag the required fields onto the pane.
The captions for fields are also sometimes hidden. You can select the Show Captions option from the context-sensitive menu to see a list of them. Click on the relevant caption to reinstate it to the form.
If the Show Captions option is grayed out, it means no captions are hidden for that form.
-
Press Ctrl+F1 within a listview or form to view a complete list of functions available.
The License Plate Numbers Browse process is as follows:
-
Browse LPNs (load from Program List or run standalone)
-
Start by entering your selection criteria when you run License Plate Numbers Browse standalone.
-
Review the results in the listview; use the listview functions (for example, filter, find, sort) to locate the required LPN.
-
-
Browse LPNs (called from another program)
-
Select the required LPN rows.
-
Select Select to return the chosen detail to the calling program.

Selection |
Includes only empty LPNs; if selected the other selection criteria will be disabled. Includes whether LPNs with zero available/on-hand quantity are returned (often excluded in allocation scenarios) Indicates whether LPNs marked with a On Hold status are included in the browse results. Includes all empty LPNs in the browse results. Indicates whether LPNs marked with a Archived status are included in the browse results. This indicates how the browse results are ordered and grouped when LPNs are returned. Calling programs will control the most meaningful sequence, however, when run standalone, you can use one of these option to control how LPNs are grouped and displayed.
Default sequencing is typically driven by the calling program. In most scenarios, programs rely on a Stock code, Bin sequence.
This allows you to enter a closest available quantity value for the LPN. |
|
Warehouses |
This indicates the warehouse whose LPNs you want to browse. |
|
Stock codes |
Indicates the stock code used to filter LPNs by contents. |
|
Bins |
Indicates the bin whose LPNs you want to include. |
|
Containers |
Indicates the container used to filter LPNs (for example, pallet, vs box) when the selection must be restricted by container definitions. |
|
License plate numbers |
Indicates the specific LPN (or LPN range) to return when you want to locate a particular container. |
More Lines
This lets you view the next set of lines in the listview.
This lets you refine the results displayed in the grid according to specific text that you've searched.
