Business insight tiles (also called insight tiles or just tiles) are essentially SQL scripts displayed in a tile format within a SYSPRO web view. These tiles are context-driven and let you act instantly on events, facilitating informed business decisions and sound business behavior.

KPIs on tiles can be used to highlight values approaching or exceeding pre-determined objectives or thresholds. This lets you proactively keep an eye on approaching targets. These targets could be a certain value, company-wide goal or a specific target agreed for a person or a role within the organization.

Starting

You can restrict operator access to programs by assigning them to groups and applying access control against the group (configured using the Operator Groups program).

  • You can only import custom business insight tiles as standard tiles can't be imported.

Solving

Standard business insight tiles can't be imported, however you can import custom business insight tiles as follows:

  1. Open the Insight Tile Definition program (SYSPRO Programs > Administration > General Setup).

  2. Select the Import function to launch the Tile Builder - Import program:

    1. In the SYSPRO Web UI (Avanti) version, specify the source folder name where the zip file containing business insight tiles is located.

      In the SYSPRO Desktop version, specify the format and location of the tiles that you want to import.

    2. Select the Import Tiles button.

      The copied or extracted business insight tiles are then displayed within the Tiles list view.

    3. Select the business insight tiles you want to import and select the Import Selected Tiles function.

      The Import Confirmation message that is displayed prompts you to confirm that you want to import the selected tiles.

  3. Exit the Insight Tile Definition program.

You can import individual or multiple tiles using a consolidated ZIP file or separate files (i.e. one file per tile).

Using

  • Columns in a list view are sometimes hidden by default. You can reinstate them using the Field Chooser option from the context-sensitive menu (displayed by right-clicking a header column header in the list view). Select and drag the required column to a position in the list view header.

  • Press Ctrl+F1 within a list view or form to view a complete list of functions available.

Referencing

This lets you import the business insight tiles selected in the Tileslist view.

The copied or extracted custom business insight tiles are displayed in this list view and grouped by category.

These tiles are not imported yet. Use the check box to select the tiles you want to import.

Column Description

Tile

This indicates the tile description.

Tile ID

This indicates the unique 6-character tile identification code.

Tile type

This indicates the tile type:

  • Text

  • Bar chart

  • Line chart

Source

This indicates whether the tile is a custom or standard tile.

Development

This indicates whether the tile is still in development or testing.

Tile name

This indicates the full name of the business insight tile.

This lets you import business insight tiles from a Source folder.

The tiles are then displayed in the Tiles list view once copied or extracted from the ZIP file.

Field Description

Input format

This lets you import separate tile definition files.

This lets you import a ZIP file containing all the tile definition files.

Client or server

Specify from where you want to import the files, either Client or Server (in a client-server environment).

Source folder

Specify the source folder where the separate business insight tiles are located.

Source ZIP file

Specify the source folder name where the zip file containing business insight tiles is located.
