Shift Pattern Allocation Maintenance
Exploring
This program is accessed from the Program List of the SYSPRO menu:
- Program List > Bill of Materials > Shift Patterns > Setup
In manufacturing environments shift patterns are work cycles that provide smooth rotation of staff.
Shift patterns can be defined at various levels (i.e. company, site, work center, production line, warehouse or machine) and a work day can have multiple shifts with different start and end times to accommodate shift requirements.
This facilitates planned work days or work hours for staff and planned down-time for machines.
Starting
To use this program, the following setup option(s) must be configured appropriately:

Solving
This message is displayed when you attempt to open the Shift Pattern Allocation Maintenance program before the required setup options have been configured.
Ensure that the Shift pattern level setup option is defined appropriately within the Setup Options program (Setup Options > Preferences > Manufacturing > Bill of Materials) before attempting to use this program.
Define the following within the Setup Options program (Setup Options > Preferences > Manufacturing > Bill of Materials):
-
Define the level at which you want to create shift patterns at the Shift pattern level setup option.
-
Optionally define the default shift at the Default shift code setup option.
Using

Field | Description |
---|---|
Site locations | Production lines | Warehouses | Work centers |
This lets you select the site, work center, warehouse or production line for which you are adding a shift pattern. The caption displayed at this field/column depends on the selection defined against the Shift pattern level setup option. |
Shift codes |
This lets you indicate the shift codes that you want to maintain. |
Date options |
|
Include shift patterns by date |
This lets you select shift patterns that are valid within a specified time period. You can then define these dates within the Valid from date and Valid to date sections. |
Valid from date |
Indicate the start date from when the shift patterns are valid. |
Valid until date |
Indicate the end date up to which the shift patterns are valid. |
Column | Description |
---|---|
Site location | Production line selection | Warehouse | Work center |
This indicates the site, work center, warehouse or production line for which you are adding a shift pattern. The caption displayed at this field/column depends on the selection defined against the Shift pattern level setup option. |
Shift code |
This indicates the code of the shift pattern for the selected site location, warehouse, work center or production line. |
Description |
This indicates the description associated with the selected shift code. |
Active according to dates |
A tick within this column indicates that the shift pattern is only active for a certain time period. |
Active from date |
This indicates the date from when the shift pattern is valid. An entry of None is displayed if the shift pattern is not active for a defined time period. |
