Inventory Bin Maintenance
You use this program maintain multiple bin locations for a stock code. In addition, you can place a bin on hold to prevent further transactions from being processed against the bin.

New | Select this to add a new bin for the stock code. |
Delete | Select this icon to delete the bin you are currently maintaining. |
Save | Select this to save the information for the bin. |
Stock code | Indicate the stock code for which you want to maintain a bin. This field is not enabled if you accessed the Inventory Bin Maintenance program from the Inventory Browse on Bins program. |
Inventory Bin Maintenance
Field | Description |
---|---|
Stock code | This indicates the stock code for which you are maintaining the bin. |
Warehouse | Enter the warehouse in which you want to create a new
bin (see Inventory Warehouses for Stock Codes). For existing bins, this indicates the warehouse in which the bin is located. |
Bin location | Enter the new bin location you want to add or the
existing bin you want to maintain. If fixed bins are in use for the warehouse, then the bin needs to exist in the warehouse. |
Note | Optionally assign a note to the bin. |
Hold status | Select this to place the bin on hold. The available quantity for a bin on hold is still included in the Requirements Calculation (see Stock on hand Inventory table). You typically place a bin on hold to prevent transactions from being processed against the bin (e.g. for inspection purposes when receiving jobs into stock from the factory). |
Reason code | Select the reason code for placing the bin on hold |
Reason | This indicates the description of the reason code. |
Status | This indicates the current status of the bin. |

Prerequisites

You can only access this program when the option: Multiple bins is enabled (Inventory Setup).
Deletion considerations

You can only delete a bin if it has a zero quantity on hand and there have been no movements against the bin for three months.
- A bin can't be deleted or the hold on it released, if it forms part of a product recall quarantine.
Maintenance considerations

You cannot place a bin on hold if you have Browse only access to the Inventory Bin Maintenance program (Operator Groups).
