You use this program to generate a number of profitability reports based on the sales value of merchandise lines.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Report type | |
Profitability report |
Select this to generate the report reflecting the sales value (excluding tax) of stocked and non-stocked merchandise lines, based on the sales value including discounts (i.e. based on the net sales value). |
Manually entered prices | Select this to generate the report reflecting the sales value (excluding tax) of stocked and non-stocked merchandise lines, based on manually entered prices. |
Contract prices entered | Select this to generate the report reflecting the sales value (excluding tax) of stocked and non-stocked merchandise lines, based on contract prices entered. |
Price margin overridden |
Select this to generate the report reflecting the sales value (excluding tax) of stocked and non-stocked merchandise lines, based on price margins that have been overridden. A profitability report based on overridden price margins can be selected only if your minimum price percentage above cost is set according to either a stock code or company margin. The margins are based on the parameters which are currently defined and not on the margin that prevailed at the time of order entry. If you select to generate a profitability report based on overridden price margins, then your selection at the Margin check based on option in the Sales Orders Setup program will allow you to print either the gross sales value (i.e. excluding discounts) or the net sales value (i.e. including discounts) on the report. |
Detail sales turnover report |
Select this to generate a detail sales turnover report. If you select this option, then, you can only generate the report in Invoice number sequence. |
Report sequence |
The report can be printed in one of the following sequences:
If you select to print a Detail sales turnover report, then you can only print the report in Invoice number sequence. For the other report types you can sequence the report by register number, invoice number or stock code. If a sequence of either Invoice number or Stock code is selected, then merchandise totals are printed for both the profitability and sales turnover reports. |
Month/year to print | This defaults to the current Accounts Receivable period and year. |
Month | Indicate the financial period (within the financial year selected below) for which to generate the report. |
Year | Indicate the financial year for which to generate the report. |
Include TPM values | Enable this to deduct Trade Promotions values from the sales order invoice value when calculating the profit amount. By default, Trade Promotions amounts are excluded when calculating the profit, which means that the profit and profit percentages are overstated for Sales orders that include Trade Promotions. |

If you select to sequence the report either by invoice number or stock code, then merchandise totals are printed for both the Profitability and Sales turnover reports.
Trade Promotions are only taken into account in the Profit values when the Include TPM values option is enabled.
Values in the Profit % column are calculated as: ((Sales value - Cost value) / Sales value) * 100
This report only includes merchandise lines (i.e. freight and miscellaneous charges are excluded).
The Sales Turnover report includes non-merchandise sales.
The information in the report is based only on the merchandise sales information held in the Sales transaction file.
This means that the report only includes transactions created using the Sales Order Entry program, as merchandise sales cannot be captured using the AR Invoice Posting.
