Forecast Depletion Take on

This program is automatically loaded when you save any changes to Forecast depletion options in the Requirements Planning Setup program.

You can also run this program from the SYSPRO Desktop (SYSPRO Button->Run a Program).

Forecast Depletion Take-on

When the MRP Forecast Depletion Take-on program is first run, you are prompted to confirm that you want to run the program.

If you select No at the prompt, then the options set for Forecast deletion in the Requirements Planning Setup program are saved, but forecast depletion does not take place.

If you select Yes at the prompt, then the program searches the MRP Forecast table for entries and attempts to find matching entries in the Inventory Movement table. The Forecast Maintenance program displays a GUI version of the MRP Forecast table.

[Note]

Regardless of the options set for Forecast depletion in the Requirements Planning Setup program, the earliest active forecast date is used to establish the earliest sales movement.

  1. The forecast quantity against each active forecast is reset by re-apportioning the invoiced quantity back to the forecast quantity and setting the invoiced quantity to zero.

  2. The earliest active forecast date per stock code, revision, release and forecast warehouse is stored. This date is used as the starting point for picking up sales movements.

  3. The sales movements are applied to the active forecasts according to the Forecast depletion options set in the Requirements Planning Setup program.

[Note]

Although SYSPRO makes provision for non-stocked forecasts and their depletion, the MRP Forecast Depletion Take-on program does not deplete the forecasts in the same manner as for stocked item forecasts. The reason is that invoiced lines for non-stocked items are not stored in the Inventory Movement table.

Therefore, even if non-stocked forecasts and non-stocked sales currently exist, these are ignored by the MRP Forecast Depletion Take-on program. Depletion for non-stocked items only occurs when the non-stocked item is invoiced after Forecast depletion is activated (Requirements Planning Setup).

Clear Forecast Depletion

This function of the MRP Forecast Depletion Take-on program can be performed when you deselect the Deplete forecasts option in the Requirements Planning Setup program.

Selecting Yes at the prompt, undoes forecast depletion against all active forecasts. Note that forecast depletion for non-stocked items cannot be undone. The reason is that invoiced lines for non-stocked items are not stored in the Inventory Movement table.

if you select No at the prompt, then forecasts are not restored, but the options set for Forecast depletion in the Requirements Planning Setup program are saved.

Notes and warnings

Bought-out at warehouse level considerations

  • If an item is defined as bought-out at warehouse level (Inventory Warehouse Maintenance for Stock Code) and the Forecast depletion period type setup option (Requirements Planning Setup) is defined as Planning time fence, then the lead time and dock to stock days defined against the warehouse is used instead of the values held against the stock code.
