Define List of Items

You use this program to enter a list of items for the purpose of criteria selection. The program is loaded when you select the Define list option within programs that cater for a List selection.

The list can be saved and re-used at a later stage from within the program in which it was created.

Define List of Items

Field Description
Accept and Close Accept the list of items entered and to return to the previous program.

If you entered a name in the Save list as field, then the list is saved and can be re-used the next time you load the same application.

The list of items is validated and can only be accepted and/or saved when all items in the list exist on file. A message is displayed when a valid list is saved.

If you entered a previously saved list in the Load list field, then that list is loaded into the calling program when you select the Accept and Close option.

Save list as Enter an appropriate name for the list if you want to save the list for future re-use.

When you select the Accept and Close option, the list is saved in the ..\base\settings\namedlists folder.

The filename is: operator_category_list-name.txt, where the list-name is the name you entered in this field. The category is defined by the system and depends on the program you used to create the list.

Load list Enter the name of a list you previously saved. This list is loaded into the calling program when you select the Accept and Close option.

The list is displayed in the List of Items listview. You can add and remove items from the listview and then save the list as a new list or overwrite the existing list.

Delete list Select this to delete a previously saved list.

You are prompted to confirm the deletion of the list.

List of Items Enter the items you want to add to the list.

The items added are validated and if an item does not exist on file, an error message is displayed.

Alternatively, you can add items in the List of items field and then select the Add Items option to populate this listview.

If an error icon is displayed against an item in them listview, it means that the item does not exist on file. All invalid items must be removed or changed to valid items before the list can be accepted.

List of items Click in the block next to this field to enter the items you want to add to the list, separated by semicolons.

Duplicate items entered are ignored when you select the Add Items option.

Add items Select this to add the items you manually entered in the List of items field to the List of items listview.

  • Items added using the Manual list option are not saved and will therefore not be loaded on subsequent runs of the program.
